The Pistons franchise was established in 1941 as the Zollner Pistons and based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The team moved to Detroit in 1957 in order to capitalize on the financial benefits of a larger market as smaller market NBA teams started to fold. The old Pistons was an outline of a basketball with the text Detroit Pistons printed in the middle. The current Detroit Pistons logo is not that much different from a design standpoint and but more like the popular updated 80s and 90s look.
