The Dallas Cowboys were the NFL‘s first modern-era expansion team. The football team was first known as the Dallas Steers, then as the Dallas Rangers. However, in its first season- 1960, the club changed team name to the Cowboys to avoid confusion with the American Association Dallas Rangers baseball team.

The Dallas Cowboys football team logo is one of the most popular and easily recognizable logos in the sports world. The old Cowboys logo was a plain blue star. The new Cowboys star logo has an outline and has not changed since 1964.
