DC Comics Logo History

DC Comics took its name from the Detective Comics series that was the original comic book series to include Batman. They are the biggest rival to Marvel.

The first DC Comics logo was in 1940 with a circle around the word DC and A Publication around it. By 1941, DC realized that Superman was its biggest star so they featured their superhero’s name in its logo. By 1972, DC began the more modern branding of just featuring the letters DC. Their logos continue to change in ’74 and in ’76, the more simplified DC with stars around it had a bit more staying power. In 2005 and ’12, DC continued its logo shaping ways. The latest logo rebranding happened in 2016 where it went with a more simplistic, modern flat look.
