Minnesota Twins MLB franchise started out as the Washington Nationals in 1901. In 1953, the club changed its nickname and became the Washington Senators. After 60 years in DC, the team moved to Minnesota and chose the nickname of Twins after the Twin Cities area comprising Minneapolis and St. Paul.
