The Horizon League is a collegiate athletic conference competing in NCAA Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The conference was founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. In 1985, it changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference and then the Horizon League in 2001.
