The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The football club competes in the CFL as a member of the league’s West Division. The Elks were founded in 1949 as the Edmonton Eskimos, but discontinued using the Eskimos name in 2020, with the new name Elks formally announced on June 1, 2021. The Edmonton Elks are one of 3 “community owned” or owned by local shareholders teams in the CFL.
