Miami Marlins baseball team joined MLB in 1993 as the Florida Marlins and played in Miami, sharing a stadium with the Miami Dolphins. The franchise adopted the nickname Marlins from previous minor league teams Miami Marlins. In 2012, the team rebranded itself as the Miami Marlins.
