In 2012, Jeremy Lin had a brief run on the New York Knicks where he was one of the best players in the entire NBA. That period of time was dubbed Linsanity. Since then, Jeremy has influenced not only Asian basketball but the world. Linsane is the term used to describe something as insane as Jeremy Lin’s play and influence on the world.
It’s a matter of interpretation on when Linsanity ended but there was no question when it started as he came off the bench on Saturday Feb 4, 2012 to drop 25 points on the New Jersey Nets in his first game where he played significant minutes.
We will define true Linsanity games as those games playing without an injured Carmelo Anthony where he was the true leader of the team. For those 9 games, Jeremey Lin averaged 25 points, 9.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 5.9 turnovers, while shooting 51% from the field, 33% from 3’s, and 71% from the free throw line. More importantly, the Knicks went 8-1 and played together as a team.
