USA Basketball, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the National Governing Body for the sport of basketball in the United States.
The men’s basketball team is the most successful team in international competition history, winning medals in all 19 Olympic tournaments it has entered, including 16 gold medals. In 1989, FIBA modified its rules and allowed USA Basketball to field teams from NBA players. The first team, known as the Dream Team, won gold at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, while dominating in every game.
