The Las Vegas Aces, originally founded as the Utah Starzz in 1997, are one of the WNBA’s eight original franchises. After relocating to San Antonio in 2003—first as the Silver Stars and later the Stars—the team moved to Las Vegas in 2018 under new ownership by MGM Resorts. In 2021, Mark Davis, owner of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, purchased the team and hired Becky Hammon as head coach. Under Hammon’s leadership, the Aces won their first WNBA championship in 2022, followed by a second in 2023, becoming the first team in over two decades to secure back-to-back titles. Led by three-time MVP A’ja Wilson, the Aces have become a dominant force in the league, setting records in attendance and performance.
