The Toronto Maple Leafs was founded in 1917 as the Toronto Arenas. The hockey franchise was renamed the Toronto St. Patricks in 1919. The club was purchased by Conn Smythe and renamed the Maple Leafs in 1927. It’s one of the members of the Original Six NHL teams. The current Maple Leafs logo was inspired by the iconic crest worn from the 1940s to the 1960s.
