The Detroit Red Wings, also called Hockeytown, is exceptionally proud of its long and glorious NHL history. The franchise joined the National Hockey League in 1926 as the Detroit Cougars. In 1930, the Cougars renamed to the Falcons. It wasn’t until 1932 that the team was renamed to what we know the team as today, Red Wings.
